As we near our  9th anniversary of designing and building custom software applications, we’d like to say thank you for letting us develop your ideas and innovations over the past almost-decade!

Each year we love featuring our Chronicle, a look at the previous year’s growth and vision of where we’re headed in the new year. But for 2021, we wanted to make a special call-out for our Crew Ops team.

In a year of – wait for it – unprecedented changes, every industry across the globe is facing a recruitment dilemma. The work that goes into HR and recruiting is hard and far too often unseen. That's why we're highlighting the incredible work our Crew Ops team of Kathleen Robinson has achieved.

Hiring + Recruiting

Airship has had an outstanding year on the hiring and recruiting side of Crew Operations. In fact, our crew grew by 23 new members and growing.

DEI: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

DEI stands for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and typically includes initiatives and policies aimed to increase and promote the representation of different groups. DEI has become a crucial, transformational element in the workplace as well as within our society.

2021 marks a milestone in Airship’s journey to become a more diverse and inclusive company. We've learned a lot over the years, and especially in 2020. The past year showed us that empathy alone isn't enough - it requires action. We hope this report reflects Airship’s progress on diversity to date, as well as our commitment to driving real, lasting change for our crew members, customers, and communities.

Start with: What problem are you trying to solve?

One of the activities we work through revolves around refining your problem statement. A problem statement is the key business problem that needs to be solved. In software development, it states “what has to be done” for a project to succeed. It does not say, “how it has to be done.”

We use the 5W’s + 1 H format as well as the SMART Framework when establishing a problem statement. In fact, you can draft your own problem statement by using our free download. This download will get you thinking through some of the questions and answers prior to starting your project.
