BL Harbert One
BL Harbert International approached Airship to create a custom intranet for their team. Their current system, Jive, was complex, expensive, and it was difficult for employees to find meaningful content. An unusable employee directory was also at the top of the list to be replaced with a new and improved intranet.

We spent two days running a Discovery Workshop with the project’s stakeholders to determine what features were essential for their new intranet, what roles would be needed in the system, and what content types needed to be supported. Through workshop activities, we were able to gain consensus across the team on where to focus our energy to release the most useful and effective application that we could to satisfy their initial release and very tight deadline.
We knew that this would be an ongoing project with multiple mappings and multiple journeys to build out everything needed for their custom intranet. Once the first release gets into the hands of the employees at BL Harbert, features will need to change once feedback starts coming in: new feature ideas come up, improvements or inefficiencies are discovered, and architecture or flows need to update. This is not unusual and is one of the great things about custom software – when you learn more about how people are using your software, you can decide what to improve and make changes. Software is not set in stone.
In just a few short months, we created a new employee directory, customized home page, a news & blogs section that incorporates social interactions, targeted announcements, notifications, and a robust admin panel. The next release will include a new project directory, a resources section and more. Stay tuned!
