Airship, a custom design and development company, is proud to congratulate our CEO and Co-founder Trent Kocurek for being a finalist in the Birmingham Business Journal’s 2021 CEO Awards. The awards recognize excellence among top executives in the Birmingham metro area for businesses of all sizes.

All finalists and winners in each category were honored at an awards ceremony on Thursday, December 9, at the newly unveiled Protective Stadium. Kocurek was named a finalist in the 11-24 employee category.

To see a full list of all honorees, visit the BBJ's 2021 CEO Awards gallery.

This is the second time for Kocurek to make the finals in the CEO Awards. The first time was in 2018. We are thrilled to have one of our leaders be recognized in our local community as we continue to grow our team in Birmingham and beyond.

Start with: What problem are you trying to solve?

One of the activities we work through revolves around refining your problem statement. A problem statement is the key business problem that needs to be solved. In software development, it states “what has to be done” for a project to succeed. It does not say, “how it has to be done.”

We use the 5W’s + 1 H format as well as the SMART Framework when establishing a problem statement. In fact, you can draft your own problem statement by using our free download. This download will get you thinking through some of the questions and answers prior to starting your project.
